Natural Rattan
Each piece of our rattan furniture is hand-crafted using the highest quality locally grown cane and bamboo. With each item being constructed to order, unique variations in colour, markings and finish will occur which will intensify over time and enhance the depth of warmth and patina.
Rattan is by nature a very resilient material. However, care is necessary to keep your piece looking at its best for years to come. Despite our rattan being protected with a durable sealant, further protection and care is required from avoid contact with excess moisture. In tropical climates, daily exposure to high humidity, direct sunlight and rainfall can damage the colour and integrity of the rattan, and we would always recommend covering each item or moving to a sheltered area when not in use, and avoiding any exposure to standing water.
Periodic light cleaning with a damp cloth or soft bristled brush to remove any dirt and mildew, allowing to fully air dry after cleaning is also recommended. Extra care can be applied with a light application of a high-quality furniture polish—providing the required maintenance to keep rattan looking its best. Preventing dryness and maintaining a depth of colour can be achieved with an application of tung oil applied with a soft cloth.
